OCEAN FEEDERS Dog Toys 2021 Personal Project
Meet Peter and Henry, my furry, four-legged, raw fed, brothers. Their love for food inspired me to dream up dog toy concepts that I could stuff raw food, frozen kefir and other treats to keep them busy and stimulated.
Initial concept ideation. Focusing on keeping the forms fun and playful. All inspired by sea creatures.
Jelly fish inspired feeder dog toy. Designed to be stuffed with frozen raw food, kefir, or peanut butter.
Sea cucumber inspired feed dog toy. With a hollow centre for peanut butter, frozen raw food or any other larger treats, and a whole lot of smaller exterior holes for stuffing smaller treats.
Mountainous star coral inspired feeder dog toy. Designed to hide treats, dry or raw food, to keep dogs busy and entertained or to prolong eating times.
5 part 3D printed mold for sea cucumber inspired feeder toy.
I prototyped the sea cucumber inspired feeder toy by injecting 31T Smooth-On Silicone Rubber into the 3D printed mold. After letting it set for 30 minutes I demolded the dog toy and it turned out really well.
All the holes held the treats really well and my two test subjects, Henry and Peter both really liked the toy. In my next prototype I’d like to experiment with the size of the holes, colours and form of the toy.
